Delete your Gillflix account
You can delete your Gillflix account and your personal data at any time. Gillflix is run by Oliver Gill.
Your reviews stay in the film club's results after you go. They're credited to "A Gillflix Member" and no longer linked to you. If you'd rather your written words went too, you can say so when you delete.
Delete it in the app
- Open Gillflix on your phone or at gillflix.com and sign in.
- Go to You.
- Tap Delete account.
- Tick Also remove my written words if you want your comments and written answers gone too.
- Confirm.
Your account is deleted straight away and the app tells you when it's done.
If you signed in with Apple, the app asks you to sign in with Apple again before it deletes your account, so do this on your iPhone. If you don't have your iPhone to hand, email us instead.
Ask us to delete it
If you can't get into the app, email us and we'll do it for you.
- Email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my account". The button below starts the email for you.
- Tell us your name in the film club and whether you signed in with Google, Apple or Discord, so we can find your account. Say too whether you want your written words removed.
- We'll check it's really you, delete the account within 30 days and email you when it's done.
What we delete
- Your account and the name and email address your sign in service gave us
- Your profile and settings
- Your push tokens and the notifications we've sent you
- Your list of films you've watched
- Your reactions to other people's comments
- Any claim you've made to reviews from the old film club
If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to cancel Gillflix's access to your Apple account.
What we keep
Your reviews of the film club's films stay, so the film club's scores and results still add up. That includes your scores, whether you recommended the film, what you liked or didn't, and your answers to the week's questions. They show as "A Gillflix Member" and are no longer linked to any account.
If you tick "Also remove my written words", we remove your comments and your written and essay answers. Your scores stay.
Reviews from the old film club that you claimed become "A Gillflix Member" too. They don't go back under your old name.
Copies of your data in our backups roll off within 30 days. Supabase's server logs, which hold IP addresses, are gone within a day.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You can do these in the app under You:
- Turn notifications off
- Hide your name, so your reviews show as "A Gillflix Member"
To have a single review or comment removed, email [email protected].
Your Google, Apple or Discord account
Deleting Gillflix doesn't touch your Google, Apple or Discord account.
You can also take Gillflix off the list of apps that use your sign in. This stops Gillflix signing you in, but it doesn't delete anything Gillflix holds. Use the steps above for that.
- Google: go to myaccount.google.com/linkedapps, choose Gillflix, then See details and remove its access
- Apple: on your iPhone go to Settings, tap your name, then Sign in with Apple. Choose Gillflix and tap Delete. On the web, sign in at account.apple.com, then Sign-In and Security, then Sign in with Apple
- Discord: go to User Settings, then Authorized Apps, and choose Deauthorize next to Gillflix
Deleting the Gillflix app from your phone doesn't delete your account.
